In this summer's installment of the Twilight movie series, many fans will get exactly what they have been waiting for: a kiss between characters Bella and Jacob. In flashy Hollywood fashion, the moment takes place at the top of a majestic mountain with the camera circling around the embracing couple.
While all this makes for great cinema, you have to wonder what it was like for the actors. Sharing such an intimate experience with someone who is essentially a co-worker can become an uncomfortable situation, especially if that person has bad breath.
Taylor Lautner, who plays Jacob, told the Press Association that the kiss was good. "It was kind of the ultimate movie kiss," he told the news source. "It was different. It was weird, just that Jacob actually got to kiss Bella. It was good."
While Lautner was complimentary of his on-screen partner, it would have been easy for the moment to have been ruined. Had Kristen Stewart, who plays Bella, had less-than-savory breath the drama of the kiss could have been diminished.
It may be easy for celebrities who are about to engage in some simulated smooching to make sure that they don't have bad breath - at least before their scene. They can simply freshen up with some mouthwash and they are ready to go.
However, it may be a little more difficult for the rest of us to avoid a situation in which our bad breath speaks for us. Few kisses in real-life are scripted. Most of us meet our significant others after a long day at the office, where oral hygiene is seldom much of a priority. But if you're not thinking about your breath in these situations you risk offending your partner.
Bad breath has no doubt ruined many romantic moments. It's hard to remain engaged with your partner if all you can smell is their halitosis. Anyone who expects to find themselves in an amorous situation - or even those who simply hope to - can benefit from taking steps to fix their bad breath problem.
There are many specialty breath-freshening products, like the line offered by TheraBreath, that can prevent the causes of every-day bad breath. While your next kiss may not be some glamorous mountaintop moment, your partner will still thank you for your pleasant-smelling breath.
