child stinky breath halitosis

For some reason, children don’t like to be clean. From denying bath time to skipping out on brushing their teeth before bed, some children think hygiene is a form of punishment. Kids overlook health in various ways, but parents need to be encouraging when it comes to a clean mouth - well, overall cleanliness is good, too. Children in the United States suffer from tooth decay and other oral health issues more than people probably imagine. If these issues go untreated, it could lead to infections and pain. Help keep your child’s pearly whites stay fresh and clean with some encouragement and healthy habits.

It’s not uncommon for children to suffer from halitosis, or severe bad breath, which can lead to embarrassment. There are so many reasons why children suffer from stinky breath, but cutting it off at the source will save them from feeling self-conscious through school. You can even stash a small bottle of alcohol free mouthwash and floss in a bag or locker for dire situations.

Teaching children good oral health habits when they are young will help them keep up the good work throughout their lives. Parents should encourage healthy eating habits as well. Some people don’t link bad breath with food, but it is often a direct cause. If you maintain an unhealthy diet of fried food, starch and sugar, your teeth and mouth are going to reflect that. You are what you eat! That’s not to say that you need to cut ice cream completely out of your diet, but make sure to keep up with brushing and flossing daily. Having a balanced diet with plenty of fruits and vegetables will keep a healthy body and mouth. If a child begins with bad oral care, they will likely develop halitosis overtime.

Parents should encourage children to brush and floss twice a day, as well as drink plenty of water because it washes down any food particles that could otherwise get caught in the mouth. Bad breath is very preventable and getting to the bottom of it now will help children from getting gum disease or other oral health issues later in life. Parents should make sure that children are using a natural toothpaste without any ingredients that could dry out the mouth, which causes bad breath
