The oral health issues faced by adults often change as they grow older. Many of the tissues in the mouth evolve with age, and understanding the dental care needs demanded by different ages may be important to enable adults to avoid problems like bad breath.
In order to make adults more aware of these issues, Oral Health America recently partnered with Aspen Dental to launch a campaign designed to inform older individuals of the ways in which their oral care needs change with age.
"Good oral hygiene and regular dental exams are important at any age. But the mouth, gums and teeth go through changes as we age, so there are special considerations that adults and seniors should keep in mind when it comes to maintaining oral health," said Arwinder Judge, vice president of clinical support at Aspen Dental.
The program aims to address critical issues, such as the link between gum disease and heart health, as well as more common topics like how denture wearers can avoid bad breath.
