Many individuals who struggle with bad breath may have poor dental hygiene habits. These habits often start when they are young children due to a lack of education.
However, a summer camp in New Jersey is working to change this by offering underprivileged children a chance to receive free oral care while attending camp this summer.
NJ.com reports that 1,300 children will be given a chance to attend camp this summer at the Kids Corporation and receive free dental cleanings. They will also participate in educational programs that are intended to improve their ability to care for their teeth.
"So many families in New Jersey struggle to put enough food on the table or pay the rent that visiting the dentist has become a luxury," Michaela Murray-Nolan, executive director of Kids Corporation, told the news source.
The Educational programs could help children learn oral hygiene habits that will enable them to avoid bad breath problems later in life. More than 20 percent of children under age of 20 have tooth decay, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. This condition can be caused by poor oral care and often leads to bad breath.
