As winter approaches and children get settled into their school routines, oral health experts are saying that this is a perfect time to take them to see a dentist. Doing so may help them avoid conditions such as bad breath, gingivitis and cavities.
Parents across the country agree. The results of a survey recently conducted by Oral Health America, a dental care advocacy group, show that 63 percent of parents feel that it is either extremely important or very important to take their children to see a dentist near the beginning of the academic year to get them ready to head back to school.
Additionally, 89 percent of parents believe that regular dental visits play an important part in their child's overall health.
The survey was conducted as part of the group's Fall for Smiles campaign, which seeks to connect communities to resources that may help them improve their oral health.
In addition to taking their children to the dentist to help them prepare for going back to school, parents may be able to incorporate better dental care products to improve their children's oral health.
