Tips to Prevent Colds, Strep Throat & Flu!

We're in the middle of the one of the worst cold, flu, and strep throat epidemics in decades. Since I have a background in Microbiology, I've been requested by many TV and radio programs to provide important tips on how to stay as healthy as possible in 2013.  Because these infectious microbes enter our body through TWO portals (our nose and mouth) I can provide some tools to help you out.

  1. Multi Symptom Probiotics SystemUse probiotics. We've been offering our line of TheraBreath Oral Care Probiotics for many years now and they have been extremely popular.  Our Multi Symptom Probiotics have been clinically proven to stop bad breath and improve oral health countless ways.  In addition, clinical studies show that they prevent STREP THROAT (sore throats) and shorten the duration of the flu.  There are two ways to use them:  Either pour the great tasting crystals into 2 ounces of water to create a rinse and gargle – OR, just pour the lemon-lime crystals directly onto your tongue (like those powdered candies from the '70's). It works both ways.
  2. Take care of your nose. Our Nasal Sinus Drops have been used for years to keep the nasal passages and sinuses clean.  These drops are one of our best-selling formulas and freshen breath caused by post nasal drip, too.  Just squeeze 2 drops into each nostril to keep this microbial entryway as clean as possible.
  3. TheraBreath Mouth Wetting LozengesUse zinc gluconate. Studies continue to show that zinc gluconate has the ability to shorten the length of a cold.  Secondly, keeping your mouth as moist as possible creates an environment inhospitable to the microbes that make us sick.  Why not kill two birds with one stone by using TheraBreath Mouth Wetting Lozenges during this cold season?  They contain a nice dose of zinc gluconate along with our natural saliva stimulating ingredient – and they don't contain ANY sugar like many of the zinc lozenges on the market.  You don't want to mess everything up by sucking on a lozenge that contains SUGAR! If you haven't tried our Lozenges yet, buy a 100 piece box of Mouth Wetting Lozenges for just $13!
  4. Change your toothbrush and tongue cleaner. The last thing you want to do when you're finally feeling better is to re-infect yourself.  Millions of people do this every year by using the SAME toothbrush and tongue cleaner they used when they were sick.  My advice (and copied by many in the media) is at the first sign of illness, use a new toothbrush and tongue cleaner.  Then, when you're better, toss the germ-laden ones away and start with a clean, brand new ones. It's an inexpensive way to keep unwanted germs from reentering your mouth. Visit our Toothbrushes and Tongue Cleaners
  5. woman drinking water to stay hydratedDrink plenty of water:  Keep hydrated.  You should be drinking six to eight glasses of water a day. It's important to drink water before you get thirsty because by then, you're already dehydrated.
  6. Stay away from alcohol and smoking – two things that will definitely make your mouth and throat dry.
  7. Use disposable tissues as frequently as possible instead of reusing a handkerchief (which harbors those nasty microbes in your purse or pocket).  When it comes to tissue – blow and throw.  Don't blow and stow (in your pocket or purse).  Again, no need to re-infect yourself.
  8. Keep your hands as clean as possible. You don't need expensive antimicrobial soaps.  In fact, those that contain Triclosan could be problematic because some bacteria become resistant to it over time.  What's much simpler is to just wash frequently with soap and hot water.  Why hot water?  Those nasty germs actually live within the oils on your hand.  Cold water will not loosen those oils, but hot water will.  And soap (regular hand soap) will loosen it even more...and that's the goal.

By following these simple tips, you have a better chance at staying healthy AND by taking me up on my Money-Saving Bonus Paks and Special Offers, you'll be saving a bundle on the TheraBreath products that will help.
