Teeth Whitening FAQ's

Q: Why is there fluoride in the Remineralization gel (TheraBreath Tooth Sensitivity Treatment Pen)? Will this cause any discoloration?

A: The absolute best way to remineralize tooth structure is through the use of TOPICAL fluoride. The fluoride in our Remineralization gel (TheraBreath Tooth Sensitivity Treatment Pen) is at the optimum concentration so that the tooth will naturally manufacture enamel crystals much stronger than its original tooth structure, thereby preventing both sensitivity and tooth decay. This natural process will not cause any discoloration to your teeth.

Q: Why does TheraBreath now use glycerin instead of glycol as the base ingredient?

A: We have upgraded our bleaching gel to a blend of Carbamide Peroxide and Hydrogen Peroxide. In order to make the tooth surface receptive for the bleaching agents, we have found that natural glycerin (derived from plants) works better. A mineral desensitizer is part of the formula to ensure a pleasant experience.

Q: What is the difference between Carbamide and Urea Peroxide?

A: There is no difference between the two terms - they are the same ingredient, but the terms are used interchangeably in oral care.

Q: TheraBreath's Dental Professional Whitening Kit states I will receive my desired results in 5 treatments. Should that be done in 5 days, or can I do 5 treatments in a single day?

A: You should let your teeth rest for at least 24 hours between each treatment. Remember, teeth have living nerve tissue inside, so you do not want to overdo it. The cover of Vogue can wait a week!

Q: Can I leave the bleaching gel on my teeth longer than one hour?

A: You should first test only ONE tooth for sensitivity for about 30 minutes. If you can tolerate that easily, go ahead and bleach using the trays. Again, if your teeth still feel comfortable after ONE hour, you can keep the trays on for a few more minutes longer, but the bleach formula works excellent in contact with your teeth for one hour and any longer may not be necessary.

Q: After I use the Remineralization gel (TheraBreath Tooth Sensitivity Treatment Pen), when can I whiten my teeth again?

A: We recommend you re-whiten your teeth every three months without having any unfavorable effects. For touch-ups in between using our kit, you can use our popular Whitening Pens as instructed for quick, continuous on-the-go whitening.
