So who should use it?

Well, if you've used PLUS before, this will be the ongoing PLUS Rinse formula.  As an extra-strength multi-dimensional oral rinse, no other blend of natural ingredients comes close.  Our chemists have been working with me for the past decade to create a STABLE formula so that all of these clinically-proven elements would work perfectly together in ONE bottle and would work day after day to provide you with long-lasting extra fresh breath, a healthier mouth, teeth, gums, and overall improved health — because as I've said from day one — good health starts in the mouth!  

In other words, if there was ever an "Anti-Aging FRESH BREATH Mouthwash" I would say NEW TheraBreath PLUS is it!

You all know the benefits of our oxygenating compounds in attacking the anaerobic bacteria and the sulfur compounds they produce.  Here's a bit of science on how the other clinically-proven elements in NEW Plus enhance the benefits: (research studies are posted online on our website here)

GREEN TEA:

A 2008 study at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver stated that GREEN TEA in Oral Care products reduced Volatile Sulfur Compounds (the odors in bad breath) BETTER than GUM, MINTS, and CAPSULES containing parsley-seed oil.

Clinical Studies in Japan showed a direct correlation between intake of green tea and decrease of symptoms of gum disease, including bleeding gums and inflammation.  By reducing the red blood cells and inflammatory tissue (source of proteins which anaerobic bacteria use to create odors), bad breath can be immediately reduced. 

Encouraging results were issued by the U. of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center following an initial study on the use of GREEN TEA on ORAL CANCER.  According to the American Cancer Society, almost 36,000 people were expected to be diagnosed with oral and/or pharynx cancer in 2009. The five-year survival rate is 60%. M. D. Anderson researchers were the first to examine green tea extract as a chemopreventive agent in this population at high risk for developing cancer.

TEA TREE OIL:

The University of Western Australia proved that even minimum concentrations of Tea Tree Oil were able to kill off virtually every type of "bad breath" producing bacteria including the worst offenders: Species of Fusobacterium, Actinomyces, Prevotella, etc.

The Journal of International Dentistry published a study that proved natural Tea Tree Oil was a much better antimicrobial vs Oral Microorganisms than the antibiotic rinse chlorhexidine (a prescription in the U.S.) and killed more germs than the "old remedy" garlic.  Additionally, patients tolerated Tea Tree Oil much better than the other 2 choices.

XYLITOL: (All of our toothpastes, lozenges, chewing gums, and probiotics contain xylitol. Now you can get xylitol in this mouthwash formula.)

A study at the Dental Institute University of Turku Finland proved that using xylitol in a daily oral care product dramatically reduced Strep mutans (the bacteria that causes CAVITIES). The study also showed amazing reduction in PLAQUE and reduction in numerous BAD BREATH PRODUCING Bacteria!

Another study showed reduction in Biofilm, which provides oral benefits as well as overall health benefits, including heart health. (National Institute for Health and Welfare, Oulu, Finland.)

ALOE VERA:

A ground-breaking 1998 study published in Molecular Cell Biochemistry observed that aloe vera improved wound healing by increasing the crosslinking of the collagen content of granulation tissue.  This can eliminate gum bleeding and inflammation and speed up healing so that periodontal problems do not contribute to bad breath.

According to the Academy of General Dentistry aloe vera can help heal internal ulcerations of the mouth, including canker sores, and lichen planus.

ZINC GLUCONATE: (ZINCRX - not to be confused with other nasty tasting zinc releasing compounds, which may dry the mouth and cause a burning sensation, our ZINC is pleasant tasting and will not create a dry mouth!)

Zinc salts clog up receptor sites on the anaerobic bacteria that create bad breath.  They work great for bacterially related bad breath, but won't work on food odors (that's why TheraBreath blends Zinc + Oxygen - never Zinc alone).

Numerous studies prove the importance of maintaining minimum zinc levels to establish taste.  Bathing the taste buds with Zinc Gluconate (in NEW Plus Rinse) while rinsing 2-3 times daily will keep them "satisfied" and able to rejuvenate their ability to differentiate flavors.

ESSENTIAL MINT OILS:

All of our flavors are natural essential oils of mint because essential oils are also natural antibacterial agents. 

We have never used artificial flavors or colors.

SODIUM BICARBONATE (BAKING SODA):

One of the little known facts about TheraBreath is that we are the ONLY anti-acid mouthwash.  Our pH is balanced so that we fight oral acids. Oral acids encourage bad breath, tooth decay, gum disease, enamel erosion, root erosion, tooth sensitivity, canker sores, etc.  Sodium bicarbonate is one of the natural compounds we use to keep the pH "basic" and to reverse acidity in the mouth.
