Bad breath can reek of alcohol
Even though it may not seem like a high priority at the time, being drunk can lead to very powerful halitosis. Individuals caught driving while intoxicated often have to blow their breath into a breathalyzer. Just this week, singer Christina Aguilera and her boyfriend Matt Rutler were arrested for allegedly driving while intoxicated, TMZ reports.
The pair was pulled over around 2:45 AM for driving erratically. After a breath test, Aguilera was hauled in for public intoxication and her boyfriend for operating a vehicle under the influence, the news source says. Both were released on bail.
The smell of alcohol on exhaled air can be particularly overpowering and is a well known cause of bad breath.
Someone who constantly smells of alcohol may even be suffering from alcoholism, according to the National Institutes of Health. Chronic booze breath is one of many signs of addiction, though it must be persistent and present with other symptoms.
After responsible drinking, it is often considered polite to freshen one's mouth up. Using a specialty alcohol-free oxygenating breath freshening rinse or xylitol gum can alleviate oral odors and leave the mouth moist.
