Oral Care

Take a few minutes each day to maintain proper and thorough oral care

Let me ask you a quick question…suppose you had been out in the garden all day long doing yardwork. You’ve been weeding, digging in the dirt, taking care of your rosebushes, etc. You’ve put in a hard day’s work and your hands and arms are filthy up to your elbows!

Would you, A, give your hands a quick rinse with water and a squirt of hand soap and be done with it?

Or would you, B, spend some time rinsing off all the loose dirt, work up a nice soapy lather, and scrub your hands and arms thoroughly under water to get off as much of the accumulated dirt as possible?

B, right? I guess maybe if you live in a cave then your answer might be A, but for most people I’d say they would agree with B. Anyway, if you wanted to clean your hands better, and the solution is to be more thorough, doesn’t it make perfect sense that if you want fresher breath and cleaner teeth, the solution is also to be more thorough? Think about it, every day you eat a variety of food and drink, and all kinds of food particles get mashed into the cracks of your teeth and the recesses of your gums. Doesn’t it make sense that you may need to spend a little time getting all of that debris out of your teeth?

Here's a couple of appalling oral care facts:

  • The average person in the US spend only 17 seconds a day brushing their teeth
  • That same average person brushes their teeth only 1.1 times per day

Wow! You can't maintain proper oral care by brushing once a day for 17 seconds!

Now, I’m not telling you to spend hours in the bathroom brushing your teeth - but I will say this; If you spend 2 minutes each time you brush your teeth, twice a day and follow my recommended oral care regimen for 1 week, you will be absolutely amazed at how clean and fresh your mouth feels. I guarantee your breath will be better too!

Dr. Katz's Daily Oral Care Routine For Fresh Breath and A Healthy Mouth!

These instructions were developed over decades of bad breath treatment at the California Breath Clinics. This oral care approach is very thorough and is designed to restore a healthy mouth environment when severe bad breath has become a problem. If you are new to using TheraBreath you should follow these instructions for the first two weeks of use. During this initial period the focus is on removing accumulation of volatile sulfur compounds in your oral cavity. After this period it is perfectly ok for most people to simply brush, floss and rinse. Remember not to rinse with water while using TheraBreath products as they need to remain undiluted in your mouth. Also, keep the bottle of oral rinse and the toothpaste tube tightly closed and away from the sun when not in use. Never store the oral rinse in a clear plastic bottle.

  1. Take a length of dental floss and wet the entire piece with TheraBreath Oral Rinse. Floss your teeth thoroughly so that the medicated rinse passes between all of your teeth.
  2. GENTLY clean your tongue with a tongue scraper or toothbrush. This will help remove the mucus layer protecting the bacteria on your tongue. Don’t scrub. Be careful to avoid irritating your tongue’s delicate surface.
  3. Rinse off the tongue scraper or toothbrush and apply a small amount of TheraBreath Toothpaste. Gently brush the toothpaste onto the newly exposed surface of your tongue, allowing the formula to reach the bacteria that live beneath the tongue’s fibers. Brush the tongue as far back as possible without gagging. You may spit when done but do not rinse your mouth with water.
  4. Place TheraBreath Toothpaste on a dry toothbrush and brush for 2 minutes. Make sure to also brush the roof of your mouth and the inside of your cheeks. Bacteria are extremely sticky and end up almost everywhere in your mouth. You do not have to brush hard, but make sure that you are thorough. When brushing your teeth, remember to angle the brush towards your gums, feeling the bristles gently sliding under the gum line. You may spit when done but do not rinse your mouth with water.
  5. Measure one dosage cup of TheraBreath Oral Rinse. Vigorously swish the rinse all over the inside of your mouth for 30-60 seconds in order to cover all the oral surfaces. The residual TheraBreath Toothpaste will react with the oxygenating properties of TheraBreath Oral Rinseand effectively attack the source of bad breath odor. You may spit when done but, again, do not rinse your mouth with water.
  6. Measure another dosage cup of TheraBreath Oral Rinse. Tilt your head back and gargle with the rinse for 15 seconds, attempting to get it as far back as possible in your throat without gagging. You may spit when done but do not rinse your mouth with water. This completes the cleaning procedure.
  7. Do not eat or drink anything for 5 minutes following this procedure to allow the TheraBreath formula to completely work on the bacteria in your mouth. This should be suffcient to remove stubborn odors, unpleasant tastes and keep your breath fresh for hours.
